BENGALURU: To express solidarity with Tamil writer Perumal Murugan, organizers of a literary fest here decided to have a reading of his book, 'One Part Woman' (Madhorubhagan), on Sunday.
The book's reference to Hindu culture and women drew fire from rightwing outfits, forcing the writer to famously declare "the death of Murugan the writer" four days ago.

The key theme of the two-day literary fest, Lekhana 2015, is 'Narratives of Violence', Festival organizer and writer Arshia Sattar told TOI on Friday that it's being done to show they're with the writer.
"We'll relay-read the book. Anyone can come and read, say, five pages or more for 10-15 minutes." The event is being held at the Indian Institute of Human Settlements.
According to Arshia, as long as the %Tamil novel is available, it should be read by as many people as possible.
"We won't be bullied by people who want to erase works or pictures or ideas. They can close their ears, eyes and minds if they don't want to see, read or think about the book," the writer stated.
